FREEWAVE EXPERT TO DISCUSS USE OF SPREAD SPECTRUM RADIO FOR MONITORING AND CONTROL AT NPRA MEETING
Brent McAdams to highlight advantages of wireless communications for industrial applications
WHO: Brent McAdams currently leads business development activities in the petrochemical and refining markets for FreeWave Technologies, the largest independent provider of high performance spread spectrum and licensed radio products and services in the industry (www.freewave.com).
Prior to joining FreeWave Technologies, McAdams served as the vice president of technology and business development for the U.S. Telemetry Corporation where he led product development strategy and business development initiatives. Additionally, McAdams spent more than 10 years as a contract electrical and instrumentation engineer with Exxon Chemical.
WHAT: “Implementing Wireless Input/Output (I/O) Over Wired Alternatives”
Historically, hardwiring has been the only option available for users to connect instrumentation, regardless of the industry. However, new Spread Spectrum radio technologies give users the ability to connect instrumentation in the field without the need for costly wired infrastructure. Now, asset information is available from applied and embedded sensory points enabling sophisticated diagnostics, remote monitoring and control and plant optimization.
These new technologies enable greater use of Spread Spectrum radio for monitoring and control in industrial environments. Today, sensor and control information, including transmission of mission critical data, can be moved through heavy interference. Distances between the transmitter and receiver of up to 60 miles can be achieved while maintaining reliability and information integrity.
Control and maintenance engineers and wireless specialists will benefit from this presentation by having the information necessary to make wireless I/O business decisions. Attendees also will learn to identify the key economic business drivers and to develop a decision matrix to maximize and leverage existing investments in technology.
